Our work
Hands-On Action for Lasting Change
Arts, Science, and Outreach Working Together
At Carolina Cat Conservation, we believe that meaningful change requires creativity, knowledge, and connection. That is why our work is built on three pillars—arts, science, and outreach. Through the arts, we tell stories that inspire families and children to care deeply for the wild cats of our region, using creative expression to connect hearts to nature. Through science, we ground our programs in research, tracking populations, restoring habitats, and ensuring that every initiative is effective and sustainable. Through outreach, we bring these lessons to communities, schools, and families, ensuring that conservation becomes a lived experience rather than a distant concept. This blend ensures that our work speaks to the mind, heart, and spirit.

Impact Story One: A Family Transformed
The Carter family of Charleston first encountered our mission through a school presentation. Their son came home excited about the bobcat, and together they attended one of our volunteer events. What began as curiosity grew into a family commitment to conservation. Today, the Carters regularly volunteer, host neighborhood clean-up days, and share their passion with others. Their story shows how one family’s involvement can ripple outward, inspiring neighbors and schools to join the cause.
Impact Story Two: Students Leading the Way
In Columbia, a middle school transformed a single classroom lesson into a movement. Inspired by our outreach program, students started their own conservation club. They organized tree-planting events, created awareness campaigns, and inspired younger students to care for wildlife. Parents and teachers soon joined, and the club became a model of how young people can lead the way in conservation. Their story reminds us that when we empower youth, we empower the future.

Impact Story Three: Businesses Stepping Up
Local businesses are powerful partners in our mission. In Greenville, a café decided to dedicate a portion of its proceeds to support our habitat restoration projects. The initiative raised funds, but it also raised awareness—customers felt proud knowing their morning coffee was helping protect wildlife. This partnership demonstrated how commerce and conservation can thrive together, and it encouraged other businesses to follow suit. These efforts show that every sector has a role in protecting our shared environment.
Impact Story Four: Teachers Inspiring the Next Generation
In Asheville, a group of teachers integrated our conservation materials into their classrooms. Students wrote poems, painted murals of wild cats, and staged a play about protecting habitats. What started as a creative class project became a school-wide event that drew parents, local artists, and news media. These teachers proved that when education and creativity combine, conservation lessons become unforgettable experiences.

Looking Ahead
The challenges we face are growing, but so too is our commitment. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our educational outreach, build new scientific collaborations, and provide more opportunities for families and volunteers to serve. We envision even more schools integrating conservation into their learning, more businesses stepping up as partners, and more families making stewardship part of their lives. Our work is never finished, because conservation is an ongoing journey—but with each step, we move closer to a future where Carolina’s wild cats and communities thrive together.Whether you are planting a tree, supporting a fundraiser, or sharing our message with friends, your role matters. Together, we can write a new story for the Carolinas, one where the call of the wild remains strong for generations to come.
